Victorian Diamond Ring with Blue Sapphires: Appraised $2450 in Yellow Gold
A unique, classy Victorian Diamond Ring with one Old Mine Cut Diamond and two vivid, Natural Blue Sapphires.
This ring has been appraised by an independent third party for $2,450. The independent appraiser is a GIA graduate andGraduate Gemologist Appraiser. According to the written appraisal, which the buyer will get a copy of, the center diamond is 0.55 carat (5.01 mm, 3.42mm) and the sapphires are 0.28 carat (4.54mm by 2.22mm) and 0.30 carat (4.49mm by 2.41mm). The center diamond appraised as a SI2 with J-K color.
When we found this ring, it originally had emerald doublets where the sapphires are now. Emerald doublets are thin slices of emerald, glued onto glass, to simulate natural emeralds. Although emerald doublets are impressive, from a "they could do that over a hundred years ago?" perspective, natural gemstones are much nicer. Which is why we decided to replace the emerald doublets with natural blue sapphires. The sapphires are from Sri Lanka and are heat treated.
There are some light scratches on the face of the ring, which happens to jewelry over a hundred years old. This antique ring has exudes class and has wonderful color.
